I personally think if there is not going to be an effort to clean some of the paths many will not ride it next year. I did the full, my wife and boy did the half.We had to choose, walk or fall to damage your bike or yourself. There was no way to choose a line on some of the clibs because the rocks was to much and big. I think the half was worst espesially on the clims with all the loose bowlders rocks. I Know we signed up for the big monsrer event but not an unridable event that ther were no preperation on the track. My burger patties was raw, my wife's pizza had scetchy chicken so we decides not to eat it further. At 3 different stalls as me, my boy and my wife wanted to eat at different stalls. Even the food stalls wasnt as expected in comparrison to last year. In comparrison to last year there were almost half of the competators as well as today. Just my 2 c, i think its all for the money fornthe organizers. Are there someone on the forum that did it as well this weekend, what was your experience? I did my second Magalies monster this weekend. The expectation that trails and climbs need to be smooth (and therefore safe) is a modern (about the last 7years) phenomenon that came about when trail building and riding centres became commercially viable and risk had to be mitigated. Sidenote, I won't go ride Sani again as the route is just so boring, it's only the scenery and the Gees that makes it worthwhile. And comparing rocky terrain to Sani is a misnomer. Technical riding has always been a part of the sport, as is hiking your bike to get to some trails. I don't understand, do you expect the organizers to remove all the rocks? Or choose climbs that are more rideable for rookies? You did it last year as well, has the routes changed to be more technical? We try to ride as much events as we can, trailseekers and i even did the Sani this year and all the effort that goes into the preparatuon to make it as ridable and as safe as possible were not at the Monster event. If you compare the event to other events the organizers will try to make the climbes at least ridable. Not because of the elevation, for that you have to train BUT because of all the lose rocks that were on the road. Back to the route, in the half as well as the full race there were so much climbes that were unridable. And while it's nice to see that he's still at the forefront, God, did the time take its toll. Unfortunately, I lost contact with him after that summer. Benito was one of them, also because he was a close friend of my cousin. That's some 40 years ago, no less.Īnd back then, I had a chance to meet most of what I used to call "colleagues" of other restaurants. The only drawback is that it made me feel old, because I spent the summer after the high school and before the uni in Alghero, joining my cousin who back then was running a restaurant there, working for him as a waiter. The two ferries are now fully replacing the previous Sibilla and Vesta, which you might remember to have seen.Ī very entertaining video, many thanks for informing us. So, you might actually have tried that already, though I can't swear that we had it that specific Hurricane: since a couple of years, the former St.Catherine was joined by her sistership St.Helen. In fact, it's no coincidence that also the bikers selected it - they must have had some good advisor for their route I suppose, because all the places where they went have their peculiarities, and not only from a gastronomic viewpoint!ītw, it's rather likely that among the selection of mixed entrees there was also the tuna "lattume" as it's called, which is rather popular in CF and is often used as one of many different "antipasti". I thought to go there that evening for you folks to taste it because, already back then, the place was beginning to surpass the other place right along the marina dock, which used to be the best of the island before its chef moved to Cagliari. the restaurant, Andrea is indeed the place where we had dinner all together. I suppose that those folks were in CF around the end of may/beginning of June last year, 'cause that's the timeframe when the tonnara is working.Īnd by that time, this year we were busy with the new toy in the Adriatic - that's why the old lady was still "closed", with the top lowered.
